More hardware for Ruck

Kelowna-born Taylor Ruck had another good day in the pool on day two of the Pac Pacific Championships in Tokyo.

The four-day competition is the biggest event of this year's calendar for swimmers in the Pan Pacific region.

Ruck won bronze medals Friday in the women's 100 metre freestyle, and women's 4x200 metre freestyle relay.

This makes three medals for Ruck, who also won gold Thursday in the 200 metre freestyle.

Ruck finished the 100 metre race in 52.72 seconds, just seven-tenths of a second behind Australian Cate Campbell. Ruck was second at the 50-metre turn in second place, but was unable to catch Campbell.

The Canadian women finished behind Australian and the U.S. in the 4x200 relay in a time of seven minutes, 47.28 seconds.

Ruck swam the second leg of the race in one minute, 54.08 seconds, the second fastest of 200 metre time of those in the competition.

It's been quite a year for Ruck who won a meet record-tying eight medals at the Commonwealth Games.

Ruck and Toronto's Penny Oleksiak were also the first athletes born in the 2000s to medal at the Olympics.
