Musical Ride gallops in

Madison Erhardt

After 13 years, the RCMP Musical Ride galloped its way back to Kelowna Thursday.

The Musical Ride performs in up to 50 communities across Canada each year between May and October. The events have helped raise thousands of dollars for local charities and non-profit organizations.

The riders act as ambassadors of goodwill who promote the RCMP’s image, heritage and traditions across Canada and all over the world.

In Kelowna, the performances at Prospera Place will benefit Cops for Kids, which provides equipment and experiences for families of sick children.

The two shows Thursday included the internationally renowned Musical Ride as well as dog agility activities and a safety demonstration from Kelowna RCMP officers with their specially trained four-legged partners.

“The riders demonstrate their cavalry skills using the horses, which is a very big part of the RCMP heritage,” said Kelowna Supt. Brent Mundle.
