Careless during scary times

I went to bed last night thinking of how it must feel to be in the fire zone, on evacuation notice and in fear of losing everything. My heart goes out to those people here.

Then I was woken at 3am to the sounds of explosions and young houligans in my back lane setting off fireworks and shooting roman candles into the trees and at each other. I couldn't believe what i was seeing. I ran out to be sure that nothing actually caught fire as they took off. There i was, on the phone with police, in the back lane wearing only my underwear and maybe getting a little shot of how the evacuees may feel.

Do we really have to tell people that fireworks, cigarettes etc cause fires? These kids obviously don't care enough, but maybe if they got caught and fined, they would learn a little.
