Crews stop 1 of 2 wildfires

The Naramata Volunteer Fire Department has stopped one of two new fire starts sparked by lightning near the community.

Three water tenders and the entire volunteer fire department has amassed on the 6000 block of Naramata Road, where the fire started near a home. Crews managed to contain and douse the blaze quickly with air support from the BC Wildfire Service.

The second, slightly larger, fire burning above the KVR is in the hands of the ministry.

Castanet News has a reporter at the scene and will update.
