The wildfire in West Kelowna's Glenrosa area is not burning near any structures at this time, according to Mayor Doug Findlater.

The fire, named the Law Creek wildfire by the BC Wildfire Service, was one of 19 new wildfire starts in the Kamloops Fire Centre, caused by a lightning storm Tuesday night.

"The fire is outside the city so it's a provincial issue," said Findlater. "Our guys are ready to go if need be. There are no structures in the immediate area."

Submitted video from a Castanet viewer shows the fire has grown in size since late Tuesday night. The BC Wildfire Service has yet to provide an update on the size of the fire at this time.

A plume of smoke is visible above the mountaintop.

Water bombers are currently attacking the fire with several rounds of fire retardant.

UPDATE: 9:55 p.m.

Another wildfire has sparked above Smith Creek by Carrot Mountain.
