Fall on KVR, no helmet

An injured mountain biker sustained serious injuries Sunday after falling on the Kettle Valley Railway wearing no helmet.

The Central Okanagan Search and Rescue were called out to the KVR just after 1 p.m.

"We got a call for an injured mountain biker on the KVR. A female tourist in her 60's from South Africa crashed and sustained head injuries and a possible concussion because she wasn’t wearing a helmet. She was stabilized and turned over to B.C. ambulance services," COSAR said.

A reminder to cyclists that wearing a helmet while biking is the law in B.C. Those who fail to abide by the law could be fined for not wearing one.
