A potentially dangerous situation was avoided by a quick thinking police officer Friday morning.

Phil Olinger tells Castanet he was driving to work near Bear Creek on the west side of Okanagan Lake when he saw what appeared to be a Dual wheel pick up truck, with no licence plate, fully engulfed in flames down an embankment.

The video clearly shows the flames spreading from the burning truck. "It's still pretty green in that area but if it weren't for the officer  who went down with a fire extinguisher who knows where that fire would have ended up," says Olinger.
