Street hockey for a cause

Get outside and play street hockey at the Village Green Hotel in Vernon, all for a great cause.

The event on Saturday, July 28, will feature a beer garden, games, music and a barbecue.

Rumour has it that some NHL players will be hitting the ball around too.

The event is all in support of North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society and KidSport.

"When I saw the parking lot size of Village Green Hotel/The Green Pub, I thought to myself that we can hold many outdoor events here," said Peter Kaz, marketing, sales and promotions manager, Village Green Hotel. "One was a street hockey tournament as I have been in a few in Montreal, New York and Calgary where I had lived."

The all-day event takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it's $250 per team to register.

Teams consist of 3 players and a goalie.
