Third crew sent to fire

UPDATE: 9:10 p.m.

A third initial attack crew has joined those fighting a small wildfire near Jackpine Lake northwest of West Kelowna.

That brings the total to nine firefighters on the ground.

They will resume the fire fight at first light Tuesday, says fire information officer Nicole Bennett.


UPDATE: 4:45 p.m.

A wildfire burning northwest of West Kelowna has been estimated at one hectare in size.

Fire information officer Nicole Bennett says the fire has been renamed the Harding Creek fire.

Six ground crew are working on the blaze, along with two pieces of heavy equipment. Air support has ended for the day.

Bennet did not have information on how aggressively the fire is burning, however aerial images do not appear to show aggressive fire behaviour.

BC Wildfire Service crew are responding to a small fire northwest of West Kelowna.

The fire is high in the hills, approximately 15 kilometres from West Kelowna, near Jackpine Lake Forest Service Road.

Air support is assisting.
