Threat at UBC

UPDATE: 2:35 p.m.

A building on the University of British Columbia campus was evacuated after a threat.

RCMP said they were alerted about the ‘non-specific’ threat about 11:30 a.m.

A woman posted on Facebook saying “welp, first bomb threat at UBC for me.”

Officials have not clarified what type of threat was issued.

People living in the building that was evacuated have since been allowed to return.

University police and Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service are currently at the scene of the previously evacuated building.

They will also attend other areas throughout the campus to gather further information.

“We thank residents and students for their patience while areas were evacuated and ask for your continued co-operation while the investigation progresses,” said Sgt. Eric Baskette, University RCMP.

RCMP say they have been unable to substantiate the threat.
