Vernon

A battered Kin Beach

Josh Winquist

The early morning storm on Monday that tore through most of the Okanagan hit parts of Vernon particularly badly.

Very old trees at Kin Beach were ripped out of the ground and now cover the park and part of the beach.

City crews are on scene cleaning up debris and assessing the damage.

Multiple homeowners in the North Okanagan woke up to find damage to their property, outdoor furniture and/or vehicles.

Thousands of Okanagan residents remain without power and many people living on Westside Road are unable to get to Vernon or Kelowna today after the road was forced to close because of downed power lines.

A Vernon man woke up to find a tree had fallen on his daughter's car nearly missing his home.

Castanet is on scene at multiple incidents across the Okanagan at this time.
