Salmon Arm

Salmon Arm to host dancers

One of the largest biennial dance festivals in the province is set to return to Salmon Arm in 2019.

The large dance convention is sponsored by the non-profit B.C. Square and Round Dance Federation and was last held in Salmon Arm in 1999.

Between 500 and 1000 will converge on the Shaw Centre complex for Festival 2019 from July 11 to 13, with pre and post events expanding those dates to July 10 to 14.

The sizeable undertaking is being hosted by two non-profit organizations: the Thompson-Shuswap Square & Round Dance Association and the Okanagan Square & Round Dance Association. It’s supported by volunteers from Kamloops to Salmon Arm and south as far as Okanagan Falls.

The Festival is now extending an invitation to the regional business community to be a partner or sponsor and perhaps contribute to the big silent auction that takes place during the event. Also, volunteers from the community are being sought to assist.

There will be an indoor exhibitors’ area operating throughout, presenting an opportunity to sell goods and services to the participants. Booth applications are now welcomed.

Festival 2019 has a growing web page located at BCFestival2019.com. In Salmon Arm, Festival co-chair Jean Wood can be contacted at: 250-833-9227. Also, a toll-free INFOLINE is operational to field inquiries at: 1-800-335-9433. E-mail can be directed to: [email protected]
