Stolen bikes, vehicles found

Seven people were arrested Tuesday after police found three stolen vehicles and a trailer of stolen bikes that had been taken from a local bike rental company.

Dozens of bikes were stolen from Myra Canyon Bike Rentals last week from a property on McCulloch Road, along with a Ford pickup truck.

Police initially searched a Beaverdell property Tuesday, discovering four stolen bikes from the recent theft, along with a stolen Jeep Patriot from Kimberley and a stolen Volkswagen Jetta from Kelowna.

The search of the Beaverdell property led police to another property near Big White Road and Highway 33, where they found the stolen Ford pickup truck and the flatdeck trailer with the 41 additional stolen bikes.

“The Kelowna RCMP Target team were able to identify a residence and execute a search warrant at the property,” said Const. Lesley Smith of the Kelowna RCMP Detachment. “This investigation led to the recovery of over $100,000 in stolen property and the arrest of multiple well-known criminals.”

Six men and one woman were arrested. One man remains in custody, as he had an outstanding warrant out on an unrelated matter.

Const. Smith says the investigation is ongoing.
