One local bike rider is now playing amateur sleuth after being hit by a vehicle at the start of "Bike to Work Week" on Monday, May 28th.

Mikayla Pankratz tells Castanet she was travelling on Enterprise Way heading east towards Dillworth Road, "as I was biking home from work, in the bike lane, a car in front of me decided at the last minute to turn right into the McDonalds parking lot off enterprise way. No signal, no shoulder check, he just turned and I had to slam on my bike brakes."

Pankratz screamed as she hit the vehicle on the rear passenger side and left a large dent in the bumper.

"The front part of my bike was bent into a 90-degree position and I was pretty shaken up. I have been off work for the past two weeks after suffering a concussion and pretty serious bruising."

As if that's not bad enough she is now being asked by ICBC to play amateur sleuth in order to try to find the driver of the vehicle.

"He stopped for a minute asked if he could buy me a coffee said he'd be right back after parking his vehicle but he left the scene."

That has left Pankratz holding the bag for her medical expenses and lost wages.

She says there was a witness but ICBC has asked Pankratz to exhaust all possibilities to try and locate the driver on her own.

She describes the driver as a white caucasian male in his mid-twenties driving a tan or silver 4 door sedan, which now has a dent in the rear passenger side.

"Any other witnesses that may be able to identify the car would be helpful. I was wearing a helmet and a bright pink t-shirt."
