Free Father's Day festivities

Bust out your pirate hats and eyepatches, there's a pirate-themed party coming to the shores of Skaha Lake this weekend to celebrate Father's Day.

For the second year running, a free family-oriented celebration will take over Skaha Lake Park with games, food, prizes and activities.

"It's going to be hopefully hot and hopefully we get a lot of people out," said organizer Jerome Abraham. "It's a pirate theme this year."

There will be children's pirate games, a crafts table, bouncy castle, dunk tank, road hockey games and more, plus a community barbecue.

"Everything at the event is completely by donation," Abraham said. Funds raised will go to Penticton's Discovery House, a men's drug and alcohol addiction recovery centre, of which Abraham is the executive director.

And don't forget to dress up — the best pirate costume will be awarded a prize.

The event takes place Sunday, June 17 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Skaha Lake Park.
