Former Kelowna Rockets captain Madison Bowey will have his name engraved on the Stanley Cup alongside Alex Ovechkin and his Washington Capitals teammates.
Bowey, who spent parts of five seasons with the Rockets between 2010 and 2015, played 51 games for the Capitals during the regular season. He amassed 12 assists during that span.
While he didn't dress for a game in the playoffs, Bowey meets the criteria for having his name engraved on the cup.
To be eligible, players must have dressed for at least 41 regular season games or one Stanley Cup final game.
Bowey was on the ice in Las Vegas Thursday night with the rest of the Capitals as they celebrated the first NHL championship in team history.
He had his turn carrying the cup around the Vegas ice.
Bowey joins Duncan Keith, Travis Moen and Scott Parker as former Rocket players with their name on the cup.
