Remembering Tayah Lloyd

A celebration of life for a pregnant Kelowna kindergarten teacher who died in a head-on collision near Hope will be held on Friday.

Family and friends will gather to honour Tayah Lloyd and her unborn child.

Lloyd and her husband Justin were driving to Vancouver on May 26 to shop for baby furniture. Lloyd was five months pregnant.

The celebration of life is set for 3:30 p.m. at 1920 Saucier Rd. in Kelowna. A keepsake display will be set up to share pictures, notes and other cherished mementos of Lloyd.

Friends tell Castanet Justin is staying with friends and is “doing well and in good spirits.”

People are being asked to wear green, Tayah's favourite colour, on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the World Wildlife Fund, which was dear to Lloyd’s heart.

Lloyd was a beloved teacher who taught in Kelowna for seven years. Many parents and students expressed condolences online, saying how much she will be missed.

A GoFundMe campaign was created by Justin’s colleagues in hopes of assisting with any unexpected costs. The campaign exceeded its goal and has raised more than $19,000.

Justin’s mother, Wanda Lloyd, reached out to Castanet expressing her appreciation for all the support the family has received from the community.

“Give your loved ones an extra hug each day – and please drive safely,” she said.
