Airbnb hosts made millions

Airbnb hosts in the Okanagan made a combined $16.7 million in 2017 as they served nearly 126,000 visitors.

And while many of those visitors hailed from around the world, a new report from the short-term rental giant shows most visitors still originate from closer to home.

According to Airbnb's rundown of North America’s top wine regions, Okanagan hosts served more visitors from Vancouver than any other city. Second on the list of Top 5 origin cities was Calgary, followed by Edmonton, Surrey, and Kelowna.

The 125,857 guests that stayed in Airbnbs in 2017 paid an average of $141 a night for their stays and hung around for an average of 2.69 days.
