Search for pilot back on

The sister of a missing pilot is heading to Mabel Lake this weekend to start the search for their plane.

“Now that the snow has started to melt, this is our time to search,” said Tammy Neron.

Pilot Dominic Neron, 28, and his girlfriend Ashley Bourgeault, 31, were last seen taking off from Penticton Regional Airport at 2:23 p.m. on Nov. 25. They were supposed to arrive in Edmonton, but disappeared en route.

An exhaustive nine-day search was performed by the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre around the Revelstoke area, after Neron's cellphone last pinged there.

Tammy believes her brother and Bourgeault are in the Mabel Lake area after witnesses say they saw and heard the plane.

“After the witness reports that we’ve received, there is reason to believe Dominic headed to Mabel Lake when weather conditions got bad,” she said.

The family is asking pilots or drone operators to help look for the burgundy and white, single-engine aircraft and is starting to organize search efforts.

Anyone who wants to be involved or assist can contact Tammy at 780-405-7649.
