Evac order for Twin Lakes

Rising waters has forced the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen to issue an evacuation order for Twin Lakes.

Pursuant to the Emergency Program Act, the order was issued by the RDOS due to immediate danger to life, health and property from a potential breach of lakeshore armouring along Twin Lakes Road in the community of Twin Lakes in Electoral Area D.

RCMP and Penticton Search & Rescue will be expediting this action.

It is important for all evacuees to register with Emergency Social Services (ESS) even if they do not intend to utilize housing and personal services. Evacuees are asked to call 250-486-1890.

For pets or livestock that need to be cared for and billeted, contact Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team (ALERT) for support at 250-809-7152.

The Evacuation Order is in effect for the following addresses on Twin Lakes Road:

  • 186 Twin Lakes Road
  • 188 Twin Lakes Road
  • 190 Twin Lakes Road
  • 192 Twin Lakes Road
  • 194 Twin Lakes Road
  • 196 Twin Lakes Road
  • 198 Twin Lakes Road
  • 200 Twin Lakes Road
  • 202 Twin Lakes Road

Upon notification of a evacuation order, residents should:

  • Leave the area immediately
  • Register with ESS, and access services, by calling: 250-486-1890.
  • If you need transportation assistance from the area please advise the individual providing this notice or call 250-486-1890.
  • Close all windows and doors.
  • Shut off all gas and electrical appliances, other than refrigerators and freezers.
  • Close gates (latch) but do not lock.
  • Gather your family: take a neighbour or someone who needs help.
  • Take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet, and Keys) only if they are immediately available. Take pets in pet kennels or on leash.
  • Do not use more vehicles then you have to.
  • Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.
