Mountain goats galore

A video posted to the Vernon and Area Community Page is getting people talking about how diverse the wildlife is in the Okanagan.

An avid outdoorsman, Brandon Isaac was hiking in the hills around the Valley when he met some very special residents in the form of mountain goats.

Isaac put a video compilation together of his friendly encounters with the large white animals that call the Okanagan home.

“I had no idea we had so many mountain goats living in the Okanagan until this year. I think you guys will enjoy this video I put together. What an amazing place we're blessed to live in,” Isaac said on the post that has been viewed more than 13,000 times.

Isaac told Castanet he could sit for hours watching the majestic animals scampering along cliff faces.

“It was just really cool to see. They are just fascinating,” said Isaac.

Isaac said if anyone does see a mountain goat in the Valley, to give them space and not to get too close.

“Right now they are having their babies, so people hiking around and hassling them puts a lot of stress on them,” he said.
