Doors locked, windows not

Chase RCMP are reminding people to make sure their vehicles are secured after two break ins where thieves got in through open windows.

Cpl. Scott Linklater said on May 2 at 12:20 p.m., police received a report of a theft from vehicle in the 800 block of Okanagan Avenue.

Linklater said the vehicle’s owner reports parking the vehicle in front of a residence and when they returned a short while later they found someone had gained entry to the locked vehicle through an open sunroof.

“The suspects stole change and medication from within the vehicle,” said Linklater.

Then on May 22, police received a report of a theft of vehicle occurring overnight in the 1000 block of Hillside Avenue.

“The vehicle’s owner found that suspects entered his locked vehicle through partially open windows. The suspects stole a laptop, medication and prescription glasses,” he said.

Police did not say if they think the break ins are related.

Anyone with any information regarding these investigations, or any other crime, is asked to contact the Chase Detachment at 250-679-3221 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
