Didn't want to be dinner

Alanna Kelly

Bears are prowling the Rose Valley area of West Kelowna.

Julie Overby caught this bruin on camera Sunday night.

Overby said she noticed the animal out of the corner of her eye about 5 p.m. on Bear Creek Road.

“I wanted to get out and get close, but I also thought I might look like dinner, so I decided to stay in my vehicle and record from a distance,” she said.

Overby said the bear was wandering near houses. She described it as “massive.”

Residents are being asked to keep garbage out of reach of bears.
