Rodeo still a go, for now

Despite their grounds being under evacuation alert, the 80th annual Keremeos Elks Rodeo is going ahead as scheduled this weekend — at least, for now.

Keremeos Elks president Mac Watson said the rodeo grounds are currently unaffected by flooding, but that he and the Elks board will be voting on a final decision on whether to go forward with the event or cancel on Thursday evening.

"Everything's still a go as far as I'm concerned," Watson said. "Personally at this moment, I don't want to [pull the trigger], so that people have something to do to take their mind off things, but we'll have to see what the river wants to do."

Unless 50 per cent of the board votes to cancel on Thursday night, the rodeo will go ahead as planned.
