Helping hand for victims

A Kelowna company with close ties to Grand Forks is sending bottled water to the flood-ravaged town.

Rhonda Bampton with IRL Trucking, based in Kelowna, tells Castanet they wanted to do something to help so they reached out to the Red Cross to ask what the best way would be.

"We're from IRL, the International Truck Centres here in Kelowna. We are donating 15,300 bottles of water to the Red Cross in Grand Forks," Bampton said.

The Red Cross indicated that, right now, bottled water is what people there need most.

The truck is leaving Kelowna destined for Grand Forks before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Anyone who wishes to help is advised to contact the Red Cross and ask what the best way to help is at this time.
