Bears in the woods

More reports of bears out and about in the valley are coming in.

Arnaud Ourcival sent us this fantastic photo of a black bear in its natural habitat.

Ourcival says he took the shot Tuesday evening, "we spotted a black bear cub and his mother last evening at kilometre 4 on Myra Forest Service Road, and we took this beautiful picture."

Trenton Grover also sent us a note saying, "just a heads up for everyone hiking in Kal Lake Provincial Park, my mother was hiking there today (Tuesday) and ran across a black bear."

Grover says the bear bolted quickly and disappeared into the tree line along the trail near the outhouses at the first parking lot.

Conservation officers remind everyone to be aware of bears, especially at this time of year when they have cubs and they are scrounging for food.
