Nan killed in Toronto attack

A Kamloops man is in mourning after losing his 'Nan' in the horrific van attack in Toronto earlier this week.

Elwood Delaney posted on Facebook of the heartache he and his family are facing after learning about the loss of his Nan.

“Alek Minassian you are very lucky you are in a jail on the other side of the country, cause If I was there you would be in the ground. Thanks to you I had to tell my 3 children and my wife that they will no longer get to talk to Nan on their birthdays or Christmas. I love you Dorothy Sewell. You will always be loved and your love for sports will always be with me while I cheer with you. Go Toronto Go. Love you Nan,” Delaney posted.

The post generated numerous comments of love and support for Delaney and his family.

“We were neighbours and friends with your Nan. She was an amazing woman with a kind word and a cheery hello to everyone. She will be sorely missed by her Ellerslie family. I am very angry at that monster,” posted one person.

Minassian is facing 10 counts of first-degree murder and 13 counts of attempted murder.

Police arrested Minassian less than half an hour after the incident, which took place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
