Prepare for water off

Residents of Kelowna's Falcon Ridge area should prepare to have no water on Tuesday.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan says water will be shut off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as crews continue construction of a new reservoir for the Falcon Ridge water system.

All 55 properties connected to the Falcon Ridge system will be affected.

Crews will work to restore service as quickly as possible, but residents may wish to store drinking and household water, fill the bathtub for toilet flushing, and use anti-bacterial sanitizer for hand washing.

A precautionary water quality advisory remains in effect due to increased turbidity in the water source.

The new 390-cubic-metre concrete reservoir has a cost of $898,698 and should be completed by July 30.

Also included in the project are a water treatment room, treatment upgrades and associated pipe works at the Highway 33 site.
