Runners 'plogging'

Alanna Kelly

A group of runners raced around Kelowna on Sunday picking up as much garbage as they could.

Steven Morrison, one of the leaders of the fitness group call November Project, said he thought of the idea when he was out on a jog and spotted some trash.

“Plogging is where you go out jogging, walking whatever pace you can and you pick and collect garbage to clean up your city,” he said. “Makes everything a little greener and you are healthy and active.”

Runners Kim, Dina, Maureen said they came out for community spirit and to clean up Kelowna.

“Our city is already pretty good at staying clean,” said Morrison. “We are going into summer and we want to come forward with the best foot for our city.”

Everyone was broken into two groups to run along the waterfront.

November Project is free to everyone and meets every Wednesday morning at 6:29 a.m. at the Sails.
