The City of Kelowna is looking for input on the design of a new active transportation corridor.

The latest corridor centres around routing options and concept designs for a connection between the Houghton Road active transportation corridor and the Okanagan Rail corridor.

Transportation planning engineer Chad Williams says essential connections are needed which will contribute to the success of Kelowna's pedestrian and biking networks.

“There are options for a paved shared pathway ether via Mills Road/Commerce Avenue or Leathead Road, and there are multiple crossing options at Highway 97 and Mill Creek being explored," said Williams.

Staff and consultants will be on hand to answer any questions during the open house, set for Wednesday, April 18 from 4-6 p.m. at Heritage Christian School on Badke Road.

"As biking and other active modes of transportation continue to increase, separating bikes and pedestrians from motorists will ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience,” said Williams.

Construction is scheduled for the summer of 2020, pending budget approval.
