Movie magic at KFX

Cool movie props seen on the big screen will be on display at the Kelowna Fan Experience this weekend.

Empire Movie Props is back with original pieces from the film Stargate, as well as fully restored Stargate SG1 screen-used Jaffa armour.

"After two and a half years of collecting all the separate Stargate screen-used Jaffa armour pieces, six months and over 250 hours restoring it, as it was damaged and over 20 years old, it's finally done," says Empire spokesman Richard Johns.

"And, it will be debuting at Kelowna Fan Experience."

Empire will also be displaying a 12-foot-high replica of the red army ape tent made out of the actual screen-used tents used in the Planet of the Apes (2001) movie.

Two custom-made apes in authentic screen-used costumes from the Ape City scene will also be there, along with original Terminator props from the movie series.

"Plus, there will be a few props for sale," says Johns.

Actor Gary Jones, who played Command Sgt. Walter Harriman in Stargate SG1, will be there in person.

KFX takes place at the Kelowna Community Theatre, Rotary Centre for the Arts, New Vintage Theatre and downtown library, Friday through Sunday.

The festival will include a premiere of the movie The Humanity Bureau, which stars Nicolas Cage and was filmed in the Oliver-Osoyoos area. It will also host CBC's The Debaters in a live battle of laughs and logic.
