Island manhunt ends

Comox Valley RCMP have arrested a 27-year-old Saanich man after a 24-hour man-hunt.

Police arrested the suspect accused of shooting a man at his North Courtenay home early Wednesday morning, sparking the 24-hour manhunt.

The arrest was made with help from the Island District Emergency Response Team, investigators recovered a firearm in the arrest, criminal charges against him are pending.

“The Comox Valley RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance and patience over the past 24 hours,” Comox Valley RCMP spokesman Const. Rob Gardner said in a statement.

The search for the suspect began after a brief interaction between the suspect and the 30-year-old victim which resulted in the shooting.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
