Teacher asks if 'hornier'

A former Boston Bar teacher was disciplined for making several inappropriate comments to students, including asking a pregnant Grade 11 student if her pregnancy made her “hornier.”

A recently released consent resolution agreement from B.C.'s teacher regulation commissioner Bruce Preston says Darryl Inancsi acted in an “inappropriate and unprofessional way” in his Boston Bar Elementary-Secondary School classroom in September 2012.

In addition to the inquiry about his student's sexual appetite, he asked another female student whether she had done drugs over the summer.

He also swore at his students several times, telling a Grade 8 student to “pick up your s**t and get the hell out of here,” and telling the school's principal, in front of his entire class, that a student had told him to “go f**k” himself.

In his report, the commissioner said Inancsi “repeatedly raised his voice and swore at students.”

In October 2012, School District 78 issued Inancsi a letter of discipline and required he attend anger management counselling and a B.C. Teachers' Federation professional boundaries course.

Inancsi completed the counselling and course, but took a leave of absence in September 2013, and hasn't returned to teaching.

The 2012 incidents weren't the first time Inancsi had been disciplined by the district. He had received a letter of reprimand in 2001, and two letters of direction in 2008.
