Abused dog rescued

It's another case of animal cruelty.

BC SPCA is investigating after a dog was found alone on a forest service road with its collar deeply embedded in its neck.

The BC SPCA is seeking the public’s help in identifying the owner.

The one-year-old shar-pei/Labrador cross, named Rusty by SPCA staff, was brought to the BC SPCA’s East Kootenay Branch in Cranbrook on March 10 by Good Samaritans who found him on the Carrol Creek forest service road between Yahk and Creston.

“We immediately rushed Rusty for veterinary treatment,” says Christy King, manager of the East Kootenay SPCA. “He has had surgery to remove necrotic tissue from his neck and is doing well. We are hopeful he will make a full recovery.”

Anyone who may know the dog or his owners, please contact the BC SPCA animal cruelty hotline at 1-855- 622-7722.
