Rutland power restored

UPDATE: 8 p.m.

Power has now been restored to the remaining customers in Rutland.


UPDATE: 5:35 p.m.

Power has been restored to most residents in the Rutland area.

Nearly 2,500 customers lost power shortly after 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.

As of 5:30 p.m., power had been restored to all but 222 customers.

FortisBC says power should be totally restored by about 7 p.m.


UPDATE: 4:30 p.m.

Power has been restored to some Kelowna homes after a widespread outage in Rutland.

Crews are working on repairs after third-party damage.

All residents should expect to have power restored by 7 p.m. 


UPDATE: 4:15 p.m.

FortisBC crews are working to restore power to almost 2,500 customers after "third-party" damage near the Belgo Park area. 

"Crews are on their way and will get the lights back on as soon as possible," said FortisBC.

Power is expected to be restored in the next few hours.

"We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our crews make repairs," they said. 

Kelowna Family YMCA in Rutland is closed due to the outage. 

"Swim lessons are cancelled for today and the facility is closed until further notice," states the YMCA.

Hundreds of Kelowna homes are without power after a widespread outage in Rutland Monday afternoon.

Originally, 2,482 homes reportedly lost power at 3:11 p.m.

FortisBC's website states 2,482 customers are still without power at 4 p.m.

It is not clear  at this time what caused the power outage.
