Olympic torch reunion

A Kelowna woman has been rejoined with a Vancouver 2010 Olympic torch that was taken to Value Village by mistake.

Jenifer Calhoun found out her mother-in-law took it to the store in Rutland. She frantically rushed to the store to try and retrieve it.

Staff members told her she would have to wait to speak with a manager, even though she had pictures and receipts.

Store manager Bryan Basaraba told Castanet there is a process when these things happen.

“We deal with 150,000 different items and donations coming in every day,” he said.

The torch was passed onto her from her biological father, who lives in Ontario, and she hoped to pass it on to her daughters.

On Monday morning, Calhoun waited outside for the store to open and was reunited with the keepsake.

“I showed the number off the tracksuit, signed a piece of paper stating I got my item back,” she said.
