UPDATE 8:44 a.m.

A Kelowna automotive body shop in the 1800 block of Baron Rd. caught fire this morning at approximately 5:50 a.m.

Three engines, a rescue unit, a command unit, and a safety unit including 16 personnel responded to this incident.

When fire crews arrived on scene they found a small fire inside the business and managed to get it under control before it could spread and cause more damage.

No one was injured in the early morning blaze, but there is structural damage and one vehicle inside the business was also damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious.

Castanet is learning about a fire reportedly at a body shop on Baron Road in behind the Canadian Tire, between Leckie Road and Banks Road.

Emergency crews are on scene and the gas and power have been shut off. best to avoid that area as the morning commute gets underway in earnest.
