Dapper Rockets makeover

The Kelowna Rockets will don a new set of jerseys for a good cause Saturday night when the Kamloops Blazers come to town.

The plaid, suit-jacket style uniforms were inspired by Don Cherry.

It's all part of a WHL collaboration with Cherry to promote organ donation, sponsored by Re/Max.

Fans entering the game will receive a coloured wristband. Those with the right colour will go home with a Don Cherry bobblehead.

You can also win an autographed bobblehead during a first-intermission Don Cherry lookalike contest, or have a picture taken with a Don Cherry cutout on the concourse.

The Cherry family has close ties to the Kidney Foundation, as Don's son Tim, received a kidney transplant from his sister, Cindy.

"Canada is actually 23rd in the world in organ donation, if you can believe it, and that's a number we want to see improve," said Cindy.

"If there's anyone out there that could make a difference in Canada when it comes to bringing awareness and promoting this cause it's the hockey culture."

The special jerseys are being auctioned online, with bids ending at 6 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds go to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
