Car plows into hotel entry

The results could've been much worse when a vehicle plowed into the Penticton Sandman Hotel on Friday afternoon.

Fire and ambulance crews responded to the scene just after noon to the incident at 939 Burnaby Avenue.

Two elderly women were inside the Subaru Forester that barrelled into the building — ending up in a hallway between the hotel's lobby and the adjoined Denny's restaurant.

Neither of the vehicle's occupants appeared hurt, but both were taken to hospital for precautionary measures.

Hotel staff said it was fortunate nobody was walking through the hallway at the time, adding a hockey team had arrived moments earlier.

Cpt. Glen Beierle with the Penticton Fire Department said the exact details of the crash aren't yet clear.
