Stretch of Highway 97 travelling southbound.

Drivers are being warned about a treacherous stretch of Highway 97 near Vernon on Wednesday evening.

Paramedics have responded to four separate collisions, involving vehicles going into the ditch, in a one hour time frame.

All four occurred in the southbound lane of Highway 97 near Vernon from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“We would like to have a notice out to the travelling public to use extreme caution on the roads this evening, they are very treacherous,” said Operations supervisor with the B.C. Emergency Health Services Glenn Braithwaite.

Braithwaite said fortunately the collisions have not been serious ones.
