Alleged piano perv gets bail

A Coquitlam piano teacher who was charged Tuesday with sexually assaulting students has been released from custody on $500 bail.

Dmytro Kubyshkin was recently charged with three separate offences from 1998, 1999 and 2014.

Police said the alleged victims were “teens and preteens.”

The 67-year-old Kubyshkin was granted bail Wednesday, and is still allowed to teach piano. Under his conditions, he must inform his students of the charges he faces.

Additionally, he must have no contact with any of the complainants, and not be alone with anyone under the age of 14, or who appears to be under the age of 14.

Kubyshkin has taught piano in people's homes for 20 years, through his company DM Piano School.

On Tuesday, police announced they are looking for possible additional victims to come forward.

Mr. Kubyshkin taught for over 20 years, so with this much access to private homes and children, we've got to make sure there aren't other victims out there," Cpl. Michael McLaughlin said.

Kubyshkin is expected back in court on March 14.
