Fallen boarder fundraiser

A GoFundMe page has been launched following the snowboarding death of a young Kelowna man.

Tristin Croteau, 21, died after colliding with a tree at Big White Ski Resort on Sunday.

Friends started the campaign in the hopes of donating funds in Croteau's memory to children who don’t have the financial means to snowboard or participate in other sports.

In less than a day, the campaign has already raised more than $3,900 towards its $5,000 goal.

"Tristin was a brother, son, and friend to many of us," the GoFundMe page says. "Tristin had such a genuine and impactful personality. He was always supportive and never made anyone feel excluded or small. He was the most caring kind soul, was always filled with love and positivity to his friends and family. No one wants to imagine the pain his family is going through."

Family members asked that any money raised go to charity.

A funeral for Croteau will take place Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Everden Rust Funeral Services on Windsor Road in Kelowna.
