Waiting for drug lab results

Vernon RCMP are still waiting for test results from a large drug lab that was shut down last year at a house on Silver Star Road.

In April 2017, police and a Vernon Fire Rescue hazardous response team were at a home in the 8000 block of Silver Star Road.

The hazmat unit spent several days at the site and a federal police response team was called to help with the investigation.

"Given the preliminary findings, the RCMP Federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team (CLEAR), was called out in order to safely examine the scene in order to search for and collect evidence and make a full determination of the purpose of the suspected drug lab," said an RCMP press release at the time of the incident. "In addition to support from the Vernon municipal hazmat team and the RCMP CLEAR team, investigators and examiners with Health Canada are also involved."

This week, Const. Kelly Brett said police are still actively investigating the suspected drug lab.

“The file is still under investigation as we are still awaiting the results from the lab to determine what was in fact seized from the property. No charges can be forwarded to Crown until the lab results are received,” said Brett.
