Distraught man had gun

UPDATE: 3:30 p.m.

A "dynamic and unfolding" police incident in which a distraught 50-year-old man barricaded himself inside a home has ended peacefully.

RCMP responded to a home on the 2300 block of Silver Place about 1:30 p.m. for reports of a man believed to be armed and alone inside a home.

The surrounding homes were all evacuated.

“A short time after those tactical evacuations began, the distraught male exited the home and was apprehended without any further incident,” says RCMP spokesman Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Kelowna RCMP and its Crisis Team responded, which includes an Interior Health psychiatric nurse.
