It's Heritage Week in Penticton, and the local branch of the Okanagan Historical Society is hosting a weeklong event at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre to celebrate.
From Feb. 19 to Feb. 25, the public can explore local history at booths put on by the Penticton Museum & Archives, Okanagan School of the Arts Shatford Centre and South Okanagan Genealogical Society, among others.
The event began Monday morning with a presentation of a Longtime Family Business Award to the Kenyon family, whose company Greyback Construction Ltd. has been involved in the community since 1919.
On Thursday, local historian Randy Manuel will give a free presentation entitled "Pioneers and Places."
The event is taking place in the former Peoples Jewellers unit at Cherry Lane.
