Congestion at YLW

Kelowna International Airport is recovering from a day full of cancellations, and facing congestion on Sunday.

Numerous flights were forced to be cancelled on Saturday due to poor visibility.

James Hall, operations manager of YLW, said the biggest challenge on Sunday is congestion.

“We’ve got a lot of recovery flights that the airlines put on to make up for flights they missed yesterday so there is definitely going to be some congestion at times,” said Hall.

Runway conditions are fine and visibility is good as of 10 a.m. on Sunday.

“Knock-on-wood things should be all arriving as planned with some slight delays,” he said.

Some flights were held overnight and will be leaving Sunday, contributing to congestion.

Travellers are reminded to check the status of their flights on the airport’s website here.
