World's largest grow-op

Greenhouses in Langley have been turned into what operators are calling the largest licensed marijuana production facility in the world.

The high-security, 1.3-million-square-foot greenhouses were previously used to grow bell peppers.

Canopy Growth says plant clones arrived at facility Saturday.

The joint venture between Canopy and BC Tweed received its licence approval Friday, and the plants were flown in from Smith Falls, Ont., on a chartered Boeing 767.

"Today is a big day for us," Jordan Sinclair, director of communications for Canopy Growth, told CTV.

The companies are gearing up for the legalization of recreational marijuana this summer. Their first harvest is expected in late spring.

The partners have distribution deals in five provinces and a second production site in Delta.

The harvest will be sold in both medical and recreational markets.
