Balloons grounded, again

UPDATE 10:30 p.m.

There's good news and bad news.

The bad news is, conditions are too windy for the hot air balloons to take flight today, but the good news is they will try again tomorrow.

The popular Vernon Winter Carnival Balloon Fiesta was supposed to take to the heavens Friday morning, but Cindy Brassard with the North Okanagan Hot Air Balloons Society, said all flights were cancelled Friday because of wind.

But wind cannot stop the popular balloon glow from taking place this evening at Polson Park from 5-7 p.m.

The glow gives people chance to get up close and personal with the massive air craft and their pilots.

It is one of the most popular events of Vernon's Winter Carnival and it has been sidelined once again.

Hotair balloons will not fly today as scheduled. The weather has once again caused the balloons to stay on the ground.

Yesterday, pilots were planning to take off from Village Green Centre, but had to scuttle those plans at the skies open up.

The forecast for the coming days may sway in the favour of pilots and fans, the sun is expected this afternoon, Saturday and Sunday.
