Pink shirt day almost here

Do you own pink? If not, it's time to go get some.

The 4th Annual Pink Shirt Day Breakfast to spread kindness around the world is next Wednesday.

The tradition started when two teens from Nova Scotia took a stand against bullying.

A boy was being made fun of for wearing a pink shirt to school. The teens decided to take action. They bought 50 pink tank tops to hand out to students at their school the next day.

Pink Shirt Day has since grown into a nationwide initiative.

The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs will be hosting their motivational breakfast at the Laurel Packinghouse.

Mayor Colin Basran will proclaim the day as Pink Shirt Day-Kindness Day, and the event will feature special guest speaker Beth Hanishewski.

Hanishewski is an internationally recognized speaker, coach and writer who teaches her audiences that the real path to success is through relationships. She titles it, “Resiliency in the Real World.”

The breakfast runs from 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and is $35 per person or $250 per table of eight.

Guests can order Kaleena Cakes to bring back to the office for $18 for half a dozen or $30 for a dozen.
