Traffic on the Highway between Hope and Merritt has been reduced to a single lane due to a "material spill," according to DriveBC.

The incident occurred in the northbound lanes at Larson Hill, about 65 kilometres south of Merritt.

DriveBC said motorists can expect 30-minute delays in both directions due to congestion.

Further south on the mountain pass, an earlier accident that occurred about 30 km north of Hope has now been cleared.

DriveBC reports the Coquihalla Highway is partially closed in one section due to a vehicle incident that occurred at about 6:30 p.m.

The incident on the mountain highway, between Shylock Road and the Portia chain up area, has the southbound right lane and the northbound right lane blocked off.

The nature of the vehicle incident is not known.

Another update is expected at 7:30 p.m.

A snowfall warning was issued by Environment Canada on Tuesday morning, noting the Coquihalla Summit could see up to 35 centimetres of snow fall by Wednesday.
